Communication Skills Coaching

As your Communication Skills Coach, here are some of the specific tasks we can work on:

Assess your communication skills: Do your verbals and your non-verbals align? My job is to evaluate your current communication abilities, strengths, weaknesses, and areas for development through observation, assessment tools, and sometimes interviews or questionnaires. 

Setting goals: We can work to set specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART) goals related to your communication skills. These goals may focus on areas such as public speaking, interpersonal communication, presentation skills, or written communication.

Providing feedback: We can also look at some constructive feedback about your communication style, clarity, non-verbal cues, tone of voice, and overall effectiveness. We look at areas where you may need improvement and suggest strategies to enhance communication impact. We also look at what you are doing well, so you can find opportunities to use these skills.

Teaching communication techniques: We look at your listening skills and if you run meetings establish a way for you to gain more presence at your meetings. I can give you strategies to improve your communication skills. These may include active listening, effective storytelling, managing body language, using persuasive language, managing nerves, and adapting communication to different audiences and contexts.

Practicing communication scenarios: This is where together we work on putting out fires, establish boundaries and stop communication problems from occurring. We can do training specific role-plays and practise using strategies to help you move beyond the theory into the practical applications to practice your communication skills in different settings. This helps you to build confidence, refine your technique, and develop adaptive communication strategies.

Tailoring your communication style: We can work together to identify your authentic communication style while ensuring they can adapt it to different situations and audiences. I can provide guidance on adjusting communication approaches for professional settings, leadership roles, or cross-cultural communication (managing diversity in a group setting).

Enhancing presentation skills: I can help you improve your presentation skills, including structuring content, creating compelling visuals, managing time effectively, and delivering engaging and impactful presentations. Plus we can practise delivering presentations so you feel prepared in any situation.

Managing conflict and difficult conversations: I also provide guidance on managing conflicts, addressing difficult conversations, and fostering positive communication in challenging situations. I teach strategies for active listening, empathy, and assertive communication.

Building confidence: By getting the basics of communication right builds confidence and reduces anxiety related to talking and addressing others in meetings.  I can be your cheerleader providing you encouragement, offer strategies for managing nerves, and help clients develop a positive mindset toward communication challenges.

Tracking progress:  How do you know you are improving? Together we monitor and track your progress toward your communication goals, providing ongoing support, and adjusting strategies as needed. I use lots of reflection work to help you to see how much you have improved.
